A Texas military hospital was put on lockdown this afternoon, following reports of an active shooter.

Initial reports do not indicate a suspect is in custody, or whether anyone has been injured.

A pentagon official told CBS News that the situation is 'under control now'. Military officials are set to release more information at a 5pm MT press conference.

The shooter was allegedly reported in the VA clinic adjacent to the center, according to KFOX14.

A woman who at the scene today told Buzzfeed that she was leaving the clinic when military police started rushing into the building.

During the panic, she says she heard a woman shouting for a medic from what appeared to be the fourth floor.

A former clinic employee told NewsChannel 9 that the clinic is connected to the center by a corridor.

The clinic has four floors, while the center has 11 floors and is one of the largest buildings in El Paso at 254,00-square-feet.

So far there have been no reports of injuries or a description of a possible suspect. Above, a stock image of the center, which is one of the largest buildings in El Paso, Texas

El Paso Police say military officials will be releasing more information on the situation at a 5pm MT press conference.

Photos from the scene show heavy police presence outside the center, including SWAT teams.

Gates have been closed and local law enforcement and directing traffic away from the area.

The El Paso PD responded to the scene around 4pm to assist Fort Bliss officials with the ongoing situation.
